Year Round Farm Policies
Rules of the Farm
There is no smoking and no pets policy for the farm. There are many wood buildings on the property and we take no smoking very seriously. Smoking is permitted in the parking lot and there is a butt container at the entrance to the farm from the parking lot. Sometimes we have fires going in the sugar bush for demonstration but for the care of the wildlife and courteousness of the other guests there is no smoking allowed in the forest.
Accessibility
While some areas of our farm and experiences are wheelchair accessible, others involve outdoor terrain and steps that may pose limitations. The following information is provided to help you plan your visit with confidence.
Parking & Entry
We offer designated accessible parking spaces in our main lot, located close to the entrance of the farm. Key buildings including the Maple Sweet Shop, Sugar Shack, and washroom facilities feature wheelchair-accessible doorways (minimum 32” wide) and are situated on level ground with no steps. At this time we do not have automatic doors installed in our buildings; please ask a member of our staff to assist you with doors if needed.
Wheelchairs
The majority of tours include a wagon ride to our forest, which requires guests to climb three steps to board and disembark from the wagon. The trails in the Sugar Bush are not wheelchair accessible as there are several steep hills and the ground can be uneven with loose stones in places. Guests using folding walkers with seats or foldable wheelchairs, and who are comfortable walking short distances (up to 10 minutes between stops), may still find portions of the tour manageable. Benches are provided at each stop for rest. We encourage guests with mobility concerns to use their discretion based on their individual needs.
Service Animals
In accordance with Ontario accessibility laws, service animals are welcome at White Meadows Farms. A service animal is defined as one that is required by a person with a disability for reasons related to their disability. To help us recognize service animals:
- It should be visibly apparent (e.g., wearing a vest or harness), or
- The guest may provide a letter from a regulated healthcare provider or an identification card confirming the need for the service animal.
Emotional Support animals are NOT Service Animals and service providers are not required to allow support animals on their premises.
Disability Cards & Support People
Guests with disabilities who require assistance are welcome to bring a support person. If you are visiting with an Access 2 Card, your support person may accompany you at no additional charge on ticketed experiences. Please present the card at the time of booking or check-in.
Forest Trails
Please be aware that the Sugar Bush is a natural area, although we have trails some spots can be icy, slippery and/or muddy, depending on the season. Branches and roots may also be exposed on these trails. Please watch where you walk to avoid any trips or falls. Proper outdoor footwear is recommended.
Open Fires
There are open fires for the purpose of our demonstrations, please use caution when near these fires to avoid any harm by sparks, ashes or smoke.
